Product description
By David Trubridge.
Navicula is inspired by microscopic diatoms which live in water and produce 50% of the air we breathe. The light is crafted from strong, multi-layered bamboo plywood creating a natural skeletal skin. The tensile form is lit internally by an LED strip which emits a soft upwards glow of light. Navicula is ideal for a dining table, lounge, foyer, reception or as a sculptural lighting feature. In 2016 Navicula won a Gold Best award and in 2017 a Good Design award. Navicula featured in the Grand Designs New Zealand 'Floating Beach Bach' in 2020.

New Zealand/Aotearoa based David Trubridge is one of the world’s preeminent designers and a recognised leader in environmentally responsible design.
From David's beginnings as a forester and furniture maker, a deep connection to nature was built. His sea-fearing journies around the world gave him an even deeper respect for nature. With his young family in the 80's they stayed onshore in various pacific islands which gave him an awareness of living in harmony with the earth. The company is no different, every single product is the result from inspections and inspirations from mother nature. The processing and manufacturing of their designs is done as environmentally as possible.
